Benefits of Sustainability

LNG fleets are an attractive option for companies committed to corporate sustainability programs. They offer significant benefits, including:

  • Reduced carbon footprint. Natural gas-powered vehicles produce 95 percent less particulate emissions than comparable diesel vehicles.

  • Pressure. LNG systems operate at low pressure 25-200 PSI vs 3800 PSI for CNG and can store as much as 2.5 times the fuel in the same space as conventional CNG systems

  • Power. LNG offers engines that are above 400 HP.  Heavy loads must be pulled by LNG  not CNG.

  • Stable Costs. Because the cost of natural gas is less volatile than diesel, and subsequently the cost of LNG, users have more control over fuel costs and surcharges.

  • Noise Reduction. LNG powered vehicles are significantly quieter than diesel trucks, both at idle and over the road.

  • Safer to use. Lighter-than-air natural gas is nontoxic and disperses quickly, so it is absorbed in the atmosphere instead of spilling on the ground.

LNG trucks look virtually identical to their diesel counterparts, but are equipped with liquefied natural gas fuel tanks instead of diesel tanks. With this fuel, trucks are able to travel approximately 600-800 miles.

While the trucks may not look noticeably different, their impact can be remarkable. For example, 40 LNG trucks can reduce a fleet's carbon footprint by approximately 6.2 million pounds per truck annually—equivalent to planting 85,760 trees or taking 364 cars off the road each year. And the same fleet's noise level equates to the volume of just four diesel trucks idling.
